September was my last post and I wish I could say that I found a magical cure and all is well. It's not. I continue to have a psoas that simply will NOT release through physical therapy. My glutes have all but shut down again and I struggle to remain pain-free. I have good days and bad but mostly have limited my activities to ensure more good days than bad.
I am still seeing a physical therapist once a week who does a psoas release. An interesting discovery - when we can get my psoas to calm down, my adductor immediately flares up and vice versa. Frustrating! And, I am still seeing my active isolated stretching guru who just looks at me and says - you need a psoas release. :-) Thank goodness for both of these people. I am sure I would not be walking if it weren't for both of them!
And, to add insult to injury, my health insurance PPO is changing as of January 1 so that Dr. P and the entire system in Vail will be out of network for me. Lovely, huh? It won't stop me from heading back out to see him but I will need to put some extra cash in the bank to finance it. I am also working on a potential plan to visit someone in Vancouver who I have on good authority has helped another hip patient who was struggling a bit. I'll keep you posted on that one - thanks Kelly!!
The recovery continues. I remain hopeful that my left will match my right sometime very soon!!
Stay tuned.

Hi there, I read through some of your posts.. I'm considering making the trip to Vail for surgerry. I keep going back and forth on doing it locally or traveling to Vail. How long did you have to stay in Vail for? Can you work with local PT back home? How many total trips did you take back and forth? thanks for your help!
We might be living parallel lives, are you going for a psoas release then?
Thank your lucky stars you don't live in England.. We have only five top FAI specialists, though am starting to suspect they're just the only 5 that actually do it, judging by my and many others recoveries!

Ramzi --- I wouldn't even consider having someone else do this surgery on me. You can read some of my older posts on that one. I stayed in Vail for 6 weeks to get a really good start on my recovery. Some only stay a few days or a week. It's really your choice.
I have the same exact issues. I am a personal trainer who had a hip debredment and labral tear surgery a year ago and I now suffer from a stuck hip. I can't abduct my leg, back pain and glutes totally shut down. What do we do?
Hi April,
I have gone out to steadman clinic 10 times now for 3 Philippon surgeries and knee foot and arm surgeries.
I was wondering if you knew of anyone who had a condo who only stays in it for so long. I have a few rare medical conditions and my medical bills add up. I go between steadman clinic and mayo clinic.
I can't afford hotels. So I'm asking everyone if they know of anyone who may have a condo/house who is only in it certain months.
I hate putting a lot on the internet but I have a pacemaker, Osteogenesis Imperfecta, Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. I have had almost 30 joint surgeries. I am only 25. Please let me know if you can do anything to help.
Hi April and anyone else reading this comment. I had surgery to repair a torn labrum and FAI( both pincer and cam)on my left hip. My psoas feels so tight even all the way to my torso and belly. My TFL and IT band are extremely tight too. I feel like eventhough the tear was fixed other muscles around the hip got extremely worse. My glutes are very weak. Im thinking about going to Vail to see Philippon. However, I had my surgery done by a surgeon trained by Philippon and thought that I was in good hands. Does seeing him really make a difference?
